I Know That Everything Is Love
"I know that everything is love…nSo why does it sometimes seem that some actions aren't loving at all?"nI asked myself.
n
"Because of context," my self answered.n"It's similar to when a situation is taken out of context and given new meaning. Here's an example:
n
When I was in school, I thought studies were extremely important, that grades would dictate my success for the rest of my life. I felt enormous pressure to meet teachers' demands while dealing with other pressures I had as an adolescent. Under this pressure, I suppressed healthy and authentic urges and desires that interfered with my focus on studies, and this disconnection from myself created insecurity that continues to some extent even today.
Today, with a broader perspective, I understand that succeeding in school wasn't actually important. What was important was connecting with myself and establishing self-confidence—the opposite of what I thought then.
Love in Every Action
One could say that looking back, it appears I didn't love myself through my actions, that I made mistakes and did things that hurt me. But the truth is I did my best. From the worldview I had then—that was what my best looked like.
In the same way, we can look at instances where I hurt other people, sometimes even those closest to me—I was doing my best with the aim of showing love, but due to a distorted perception of reality, the result was harmful."
Changing Perspective
So to change actions, we must change perception—the point of view.
And how do we change a point of view? First, we need to take interest in the perspective that led to the undesired result and understand it. When we understand it—we love it, because we see it was there for a good reason.
And then, once it has received understanding and love, it releases its grip, and effortlessly, a new perspective takes its place.
